About Us

I was born in Hythe and have lived all my life here. In fact I’ve brought up all 4 of my children here too. So it’s fair to say I love the area, the town and the people and I’d never want to live anywhere else.

I’ve owned my own local accountancy business for just over 4 years now so it’s fair to say that I know a lot of local businesses. Equally, before that I worked for Hythe Town Council so I got to interact with a lot of local suppliers there too.

All of this has given me a great grounding in how to run a business but also enabled me to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening in Hythe.

And that’s what gave me the push to start the Hythe Business Hub.

You see, like a lot of other people, I found myself working from home during the pandemic. And I really struggled. I’m a really sociable person, and being isolated at home really didn’t work for me.

Now, I’m not saying I want to go back to the office full time, but I do like the idea of having the option to work from somewhere else when I want it.

I like the idea of networking and socialising with other local businesses. I like the idea of being able to work somewhere without being tied into a long term contract. And I like the idea of being able to go somewhere and concentrate on what I’m doing without any distractions from the kids (mine or the neighbours’!)

Unfortunately, when I realised I was missing all this, I couldn’t find a solution in Hythe. There were no open-working spaces. No option to have meetings anywhere other than Zoom. And certainly no refuge from the needy dog who wanted feeding and walking every 2 minutes!

There was however an old office space in need of a bit of TLC which was available. It was the perfect size to be converted into a shared working space. The very building I began my accountancy training in over 15 years ago. It was as if the stars aligned. So, that’s when I decided to open up my own co-working space.

I got to work, hired a few workmen, and some designers. And here we are, 8 weeks later - and the Hythe Business Hub is open for business.

Now, it’s time to build on that and create our own history here. So come on down and check us out. It’s about time you had a bit more of a definite split between home and work, right?
